"Sittin' on the dock of the bay"

Freshwater West Beach Weather and Tides

The beach is approximately 1 km across, facing west out to the Atlantic Ocean and lies in front of sand dunes and marsh land. This beach picks up the strongest Atlantic swells and as a consequence is extremely popular with surfers. Castlemartin Corse drains land to the east and is the dominant freshwater influence to the bathing water. The bathing water lies within the Pembrokeshire Marine Special Area of Conservation and the surrounding area forms part of the Limestone Coast of South West Wales and Castlemartin Corse Sites of Special Scientific Interest. The bathing water is also located within Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, further highlighting the environmental value of the area.

Important! Tide times are for the nearest measurement point and may not be accurate for this location. You should not rely on these times for anything other than a broad indication of when the tide will be at its highest or lowest.

In particular, these tide times are not suitable for navigational use. Accurate tide forecasts require complex calculations and detailed local information. If you intend to engage in any activity for which tidal information is important for safety reasons (including sailing, powerboating, diving, and surfing) then you should obtain professional data.
