Whitstable is a popular seaside town with a well established commercial harbour supporting a small fishing fleet, mainly shellfish. Tankerton Beach is located below Tankerton slopes approx 1 mile east of Whitstable town centre. The shingle beach is lined with a number of wooden beach and a friendly sailing club can be found at the eastern end of the beach. There is free on-street parking at the top of Tankerton slopes and ample pay and display parking within a short distance.
